In our first 12 years, we've saved over 12,000 animals and placed them in loving "furever" homes! In 2021, we placed almost 1,200 animals. We adhere to a No-Kill animal welfare philosophy which means we do not euthanize animals to create
space. We partner with shelters that are overcrowded, we work with 14 Lehigh County and 1 Berks County municipalities to take in stray dogs and cats, rescue dogs and cats from natural
disasters, accept dogs and cats from owners who need to relinquish them, and work to place animals into loving homes.
Thank you so much to our supporters who allow our mission to grow!!
Help us in our mission to create a safe haven for animals adopting an animal, becoming a Volunteer or by providing critical donations.

02/2023: The Sanctuary at Haafsville is pleased to announce the launch of a new program -- PawsAbilities! Through this program, we will be able to host small groups of
individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities wishing to participate as Sanctuary volunteers. Participants will engage in various activities and tasks related to animal care and
enrichment, light house-keeping/cleaning, and of course -- socialization with our very deserving animals! Events are held once per month at The Sanctuary.
If you are interested, or are a caregiver of someone who could benefit from a program like PawsAbilities, please read through and complete our sign up form at
https://bit.ly/PawsAbilities. When your completed form is received, a Sanctuary volunteer will reach out for a phone consultation to
evaluate how to best support our participants. Please reach out to pawsabilities@thesanctuarypa.org with any questions.
