We are a Community Resource for you!

The "Sanctuary" is our concept for providing a nurturing environment for animals in need.

Our facility is home to most of our cats and dogs, although some reside in foster homes initially. This helps us to learn about their behavioral traits and make "right match" placements.

Our animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas and parasites and tested for heartworm.  This means that any animal adopted from The Sanctuary at Haafsville is ready to start a new life in your home.

We are a volunteer-based organization and are very conservative financially which allows us to provide exceptional care to our resident animals.  We are funded by our ongoing fundraising efforts, donations and our partnerships. Visit our Thank You page to see some of great organizations that have helped us in our first 10 years.

Animal Welfare Services

  • Animal Adoptions: We offer a mix of ages and breeds of cats and dogs.
  • Foster Program: Visit our FOSTER page to learn more.
  • Long-Term Stay: Sometimes, we become permanant housing for a few animals that are never adopted.  We keep those animals safe and loved.
  • Animal Safety: We provide Animal Control services for 15 local municipalities.
  • Shelter Partnerships: We pull animals from many high-kill shelters saving hundreds of lives.
  • Educational Opportunities: We participate and offer several programs for schools and organizations.  Visit our FAQ's to learn more.

How We Enrich Peoples' Lives

We provide services to enrich peoples' lives which include:

  • Community Service hours for volunteers.
  • Programs for Special Needs individuals.
  • Cultivate an atmosphere of gratitute and respect for Volunteers.
  • A teamwork approach so volunteers are not overwhelmed and can grow.
  • Provide a welcoming sanctuary for non-pet owners to be with animals.

We invite you to become a part of The Sanctuary in a way that works for YOU!

Ween
Ween is hoping for a miracle. She is the longest resident in the Sanctuary at Haafsville Cat Building. Ween is sweet, loving, playful, and a shameless mooch! Besides that, she is gorgeous with thoughtful eyes and lovely coloring.

You may be wondering how such a great cat is still at a shelter. It is because this purrfect girl also has occasional accidents outside of the litter box.

Ween is a very special cat who needs a special person, someone who is patient, understanding, and good with a Swiffer! However, the reward is a truly amazing companion. Ween has participated in multiple photoshoots while on a leash and harness. She even completed a 5K riding along in a backpack.

Ween is 5 years old, healthy, spayed, vaccinated, negative for FeLV & FIV, and microchipped.

Ween spends most of her time on the nice list. Don't let a few moments on the naughty list stand between her and a forever home.
