How to Adopt from The Sanctuary

Thank you for choosing to adopt your new family member from The Sanctuary at Haafsville. We'd be delighted to help you make the right match and adopt an animal.  We will make every effort to ensure that the adoption experience will be positive for you, your household members and your new pet.

We are open every Saturday from 10:00am - 2:00pm ET at the Dog Adoption Center (901 Nestle Way, Breiningsville, PA 18031)

DOG Open Hours – Saturdays 10am – 2pm

**Please keep your dogs at home! Do not leave them in the car.
**Dog adoptions will not take place during this timeframe. Applications will only be taken on our available dogs. Therefore, same day dog adoptions do not occur during our Open Hours.
**It is not first come, first served, so please do not feel like you need to be there right at our opening at 10 am - that tends to be our busiest time.
**Please do your best to have ALL (human) members of the household present to meet our dogs. We do not finalize adoptions until everyone in the household has met the dog and needing to meet additional family members can delay the process.

This is a great opportunity to meet our resident animals and the Sanctuary Volunteers and get to know more about our animals and Us!

Adoption payment is required before taking an animal home. The adoption fees range depending on the medical needs and the age of the dog. We accept Cash, Check, or Credit Card for adoption fees. If you want to know the adoption fee for a specific dog, please email our Dog Adoption Team

Interested in fostering?

A foster home is simply a temporary safe refuge for rescued dogs in order to prepare them for a new home. We provide all medicine, and veterinary care for the foster animal, food and supplies if needed, and you just supply your time, energy, home and most of all LOVE!

Please only submit the Foster application if you're interested in fostering only. If you are interested in adopting or fostering with the intent to adopt, please submit an Adoption application.

If you are interested in fostering the following criteria must be met:

  • The primary caregiver of the foster animal must be an adult
  • If you rent we require written approval of your landlord and contact information
  • Since we have open adoptions every Saturday, it is helpful to have foster homes that are local so the animals can be brought there for our adoption events
  • It is also required that your own animals are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered.

Cricket

Once upon a time, there was a feisty kitten with a stressful existence in a feral colony. Life was a daily struggle. He was eventally trapped as a juvenile. Since he was older with no prior contact with people, he was going to be a challenge to foster. Luckily for this little boy, he was given to a foster mom who is more stubborn than him. He was named Cricket. The foster mom wouldn’t give up on him and continued to pet Cricket despite his growls and hisses. This disgruntled boy slowly discovered he enjoyed butt scratches, ear scratches, back scratches and belly rubs. Cricket finally purred - and purred a lot. Cricket will now place his head in your hand and hope to be pet all day. He tolerates being held briefly. In the foster home, Cricket also learned to play. His preferred toys include wand toys, catnip mice and the laser dot. Cricket is great with other cats. He does not like being placed in a carrier but is ok once he’s in it. Cricket is food motivated and enjoys Churu treats. Giving him Churu treats will be a great way to bond. Cricket graduated to the free roaming room at the Sanctuary at Haafsville and is doing very well with people and his feline friends.
This once terrified kitten has been transformed. With the help of his wonderful foster mom, Cricket learned how to be a confident and lovable cat. Of course, this is not the end of the story. It’s just the beginning. Many adventures and happy memories to be made throughout his adoption story.
Cricket is about 10 months old, healthy, neutered, vaccinated, negative for FeLV/FIV, litter trained and microchipped
