When Murray arrived at the Sanctuary as a young puppy from an inner-city animal
control center, it was believed he had hypertrophic osteodystrophy (HOD), a painful
condition often found in large-breed dogs affecting growth plates in joints. HOD usually
resolves as dogs grow. As we got to know him, we learned something was different.
Murray has a rare autoimmune disorder (still a bit of a mystery) that requires lifelong
medical care. These days, Murray has frequent veterinary follow-ups, takes specialized
medications, eats a raw diet, and is being lovingly cared for in a foster home where his
health can be closely monitored.
He’s still very much a puppy—curious, sweet, and determined to enjoy every day with
cuddling and playing with other dogs in his foster home.
As a sponsor, you can help us ensure Murray receives the care he needs to live his best
life. Your sponsorship allows second chances to lead to a forever happy after.
