A Shout Out & Thanks!

For a few years in a row, the Petco Foundation has awarded grants to The Sanctuary at Haafsville.  These grants have enabled hundreds of feral cats, owned cats and dogs to be neutered or spayed and vaccinated, preventing the birth of thousands of kittens and puppies.  Funding was also provided to pay for the expensive treatment of extreme medical cases for some of our rescued dogs and cats.  So, can we all join together and say “Thank you Petco Foundation.”

2024 Annual Bingo Party - Thanks!

Sunday, April 14 th saw 288 people (and one service dog) attend the Events Team’s annual bingo party! This year it was held at the East Greenville Fire Company in E. Greenville, PA.

Starting last Fall, it took a lot of work by a lot of volunteers to pull it together. The day of the event, those same volunteers were up early to set up, joined by several volunteers from other teams who showed up to help. Also many Sanctuary volunteers from all teams provided us with an absolutely wonderful array of baked goods as well as providing several baskets for our raffle. Scott Werner, husband of one of our Events Team members, stepped up to be our Caller for the day.

THANK YOU TO EVERY SANCTUARY VOLUNTEER WHO HELPED MAKE IT A GRAND SUCCESS!

It also took our wonderful sponsors, without whom we could not have had such a successful event! Please show your appreciation for their support by supporting their businesses.

Vixen
Vixen can’t seem to catch a break. We are urgently looking for a medical foster with intent to adopt home for this girl.
To start her sad story, Vixen was dumped on a busy road in Philly. She was tied to a pole where she needed immediate medical attention due to a uterine prolapse. It was heart breaking for her – being stuck, abandoned, and in pain. Who knows how long she was left there?

Fortunately, she was rescued and received the veterinary care that she so desperately needed. Vixen recovered quickly with us in a sweet cottage where she was able to stay calm and get lots of loving.

Just when we think she is fully recovered, healthy, and happy – we noticed her favoring one of her legs. Her diagnosis showed that she has a partial tear in her ACL and will need a brace to help her heal.
In case you haven’t met Vixen yet, she is a spunky girl who is a tad clumsy. She loves to go on her walks and play with volunteers. Vixen will need lots of rest and extra attention to make up for the lack of distance she can walk. She loves toys and still acts like a puppy.

Right now, she has a wonderful foster that is helping her heal. Unfortunately, her foster is unable to keep her because they have hardwood floors. The floors are so slippery, and Vixen keeps falling and possibly hurting herself more.
Once she has her brace on, it is important to have her on floors that have traction. We are hoping to find a home with carpet floors and no other pets to prevent her from getting amped up. Due to her pulling on a leash, the vet recommended keeping her in a fenced area to prevent her from pulling.

She is a goofy, gentle giant – weighing just shy of 100 lbs! Believe it or not, she thinks she is a lap dog! Who could say no to those cuddles?
She is super sweet, playful, and fun! Vixen is potty trained in foster and a wonderful house guest. As long as you don’t mind slobber and snoring, she is an absolute dream!

Please help us find Vixen her forever home. We are still surprised she has been with us since December! We think those big puppy eyes are irresistible. Vixen is a female Presa Canario around 1.5 years old. We know we are looking for a unicorn family - no pets, a fenced yard, and carpeted floors. Can you be her unicorn? Know someone that can be? Please help us find her a home!
